At 15 lbs Impact Poly Hammers has the heaviest dead blow sledge hammer in the world! Not only is this this sledge the heaviest, it's made with our same construction of 95durometer poly outer casing that is chemically bonded to our super heavy duty steel frame! The Impact sledge has a few other hidden features that make it super unique; a spring steel handle and a neck joint that further takes vibration away from the user.

Pictured above is Impact's 15lb sledge frame and finished product. Check out that neck joint, it's insanely heavy duty!
First, lets summarize the other manufacturers.
In a previous post we pointed out that Trusty Cook makes almost every other manufacturer’s dead blow sledges. Trusty has a 12lb that is 36” long with an 8” head 3.25” striking face. Snap-on has an 11lb oz version which is clearly the Trusty Cook Sledge but called Bluepoint. Stanley uses a Trusty Cook made sledge and they call it a Compocast 11.5lb. The Compocast uses a slightly different handle mold. The Stanley part number matches the Trusty website at 57-554. Might be a fun typo on the website as they list the overall length at 91.5”. Tekton offers a 12.5lb sledge that is clearly made by Trusty cook as well. They list the dimensions as 36” x 8” x 3.3” so it must be the same as the Trusty 12lb but they’ve relabeled it to make it sound even heavier. There are a few off brand dead blow sledges like this one from Giant.

We went looking for other brands and a user on Garage Journal (one of our favorite user research site) mentioned a BFH12 as his favorite Big F’ing Hammer post. After some internet research and looking on Marco and Sealey’s UK Website we can’t find this in existence anymore.
Second, lets look at Impact's construction and what separates it from everyone else. Starting with the steel head construction, the head tube is a 1/4" wall thickness tube with 3/8" end caps that are fully welded on. We have a lifetime guarantee that no shot will ever leave this sledge head! Impact is the only brand in the world to fully weld the head tube.

The neck joint is made from 3/8" steel gussets and a 1" diameter attachment tube. The neck joint is made this strong so no mishits can affect the integrity of the joint. When you swing a sledge this heavy, a mis hit could be catastrophic and we've heard of heads from other brands flying across a shop!

A unique feature is the neck tube has grooves inside of it so the poly grabs in. The poly lock system allows us to use a spring steel handle that can't be welded onto the steel head. The spring steel not only goes back in shape after a hit, it helps further absorb vibration.

We've even "accidentally" driven over the sledge handle and it goes right back to straight! WATCH the Impact Poly Sledge get RAN OVER & BOUNCE BACK!

We’ve seen sledge construction that allows the head to completely separate from the handle and become a projectile! Check out this picture of a Stanley Sledge that a customer sent us to show how bad they are!

The dead blow sledge isn’t just a matter of weight, it’s also how balanced it feels, the deadness of the strike, and the handle ergonomics.
What’s up next for Impact sledge series? We’ve got a 17lb dual faced sledge in the works and a project we are calling “The Heaviest Sledge Ever” that’s a project requested from our good friends Tekamo HD
